So Long 2011, We Barely Knew Ya!

This was a big year in a lot of ways. Crappy economy brought to us by crappy government and crappier scheisters in the halls of power. Offsetting that was the never-ending stream of good times with like-minded folks on two wheels. We got to get to the road and see a ton of the people who keep us going and for that, we are forever grateful. No matter how much you think you get from this wacky internet crap, the truth is that there is nothing better than hitting the pavement with real folks.

Here's to a safe celebration tonight, and a great start to 2012. Get your fun in while you can, because somebody says this may be the last chance we have!

So everyone is on the same page, here's the news with regards to TT&Co. parts.

The Troop helmets are being discontinued according to everything I'm being told and can understand. Also, since the wonderful economy of Japan and our ever-sinking US dollar are colliding to make the last batch of lids around 300 bucks retail, we're not bringing any more over. Sorry, that's not value the way we define it here. SO...

There are a few of the Troop1s and 2s left and a smattering of MOTOs lying around too. We're not putting them up on the site, so if you want one of the LAST ones, email us with your hat size and address to ship to, and we'll see what we can do. Email to sales@eternalcombustion.com

ONCE THESE ARE GONE, THEY ARE GONE FOR GOOD.

Unless the world changes drastically in the next few days, we won't be seeing these anymore.

As for the other parts, they suffer the same BS story of how the exchange rate has driven prices up over 70%. We don't like price increases, so we aren't going to be doing this song and dance here. What you see on the STORE is what there is pretty much, although if you're jonesing for something that says it's out of stock, give us a shout and we'll verify. Again, it'll be a "once and done" kind of thing, so be prepared to pick up whatever you've been drooling over now!

Lots of other big things cooking around the shop, so keep tuned in and we'll update you as we get nearer to completion!

Hey all, sorry for the radio outage around here lately. We're firmly planted in Colorado for the time being and due to some unforeseen issues in Craze's family, we'll be here for a while. This means we most likely won't see you guys out on the New York leg of the trip. Still a slight chance to ride out for the GR, but we'll have to see how that plays out.

Just got done out in Minnesota and hit the road back to South Dakota. Great weekend and great people again for sure! We've got some last-minute cleaning up to do in California the rest of this week, and then it's back to Sturgis for some good times. Been great putting faces to names of people we've met online or sent orders to and catching up with friends we don't see often enough! Here's a couple shots of the journey so far.

Finally back at the ranch and settled in after the big show. Mike, Grant and the team really outdid themselves this go-round. Best show and all-around vibe to be had in a very long time. The only down side at Born Free, is that I never get to see everyone or spend enough time with those I do see. This year, I didn't even get the handful of photos that we were able to sneak in at the last one. It was gogogogogo from start to finish. There's plenty to see out in web land, so go hit up the blog roll and see for yourself (assuming you're one of the unlucky ones that missed the show) how out-of-this-world BF3 was!

Ok, we don't get to excited about much over here, but this time is different. Tim and the gang at Show Class have absolutely killed it with the mag! Just got our care package today and couldn't be more stoked. Seriously. They hit it out of the park on issue number one. Being completely honest, I have to admit that I usually open a mag, immediately look for our ad and then flip through the pages checking out the pictures all A.D.D. style. Then I'll get back to it a while later when I catch a minute of free time.

Not this time.

I started doing the ad hunt, and got lost immediately in the stories and writing that surrounds the pics. Blew my whole process up! Refreshing to see a rag that speaks the language people speak around the bar / campfire / gas pump. Nevermind the fact that the bikes are cool, the entire package jumps out. It's tough to get tired of Fingers' stories and some of the other spots like Lady Parts better become regular features too. I hope they keep this up, because I know now that I'll be keeping eyes peeled on the post for the next issue!

Got a couple new things in for you to peruse and a couple tried-and-true items back in stock. We've got clear flip bases and Rodder tail lights back in and ready to go for those of you that have been waiting on 'em, and in the new category we have the FTW and updated Cage tail lights. The FTW is a nice, small LED setup with that ever-enduring slogan and the newly updated Cage is a smaller version of the original with all-cast aluminum body and grille. Great stuff for sure! Brian's EDR trophy bike...

That's right, even the EDR had trophies. At least this one was sorta useful. A bottle of tequila can be consumed, regifted, used as a security weapon, or thrown with a flaming rag in a revolution. We call that pretty useful, and getting one for free ain't so bad either. Brian from The Great White North got the bottle this go-round and the bike in question even sports a Still Kickin' Bubba aircleaner! Was great to get to hang with these guys for a brief moment and listen to their tales. Always cool meeting customers from afar!

Somehow, Brian even managed to get up and actually receive his award... albeit only briefly.

What better way to wrap up a great trip to Mexico than to release some new product on ya?! Just got two new products up on the store as well as putting a couple old ones back in stock too. Old stuff includes some yellow flip bases finally and Bikini Fairings are back in stock as well. Check 'em out!

As for new stuff, we've got the brand new Spot Headlamp and the LoPro Prison Fairings in. The Spot is a great follow-up to the Lamplighter and uses the same great 4.5" H4 Halogen bulb / lens combo in an awesome casing that is the perfect nod to the Unity lights of old. Small and bright is the key, while the great style fits just about any build.

The Prison Fairing is the perfect addition to the LoPro lineup and is made of hand-laid fiberglass this time around. Tough as nails and the perfect way to liven up that narrow glide front end. Looks great on whatever setup you put it on for sure!

Well, made it back to HQ without any issues to speak of. Great time on the EDR for sure! Great to hang with old friends and new. Met a bunch of you guys who support us so well, and am better for having done so. Awesome to see so much EC gear out there on the road getting used and put to the test too. Promised that the phone would get left off the entire time, and except for these 3 photos, I stuck to my guns. Thanks to all that came out and tore it up with us!

That's right. Nothing to do this weekend, but hustle around the shop trying to get as much done as possible before heading out on the EDR this week. No, not trying to get any last-minute bikes ready for the ride. These are all the bikes for Born Free. Time's ticking down, and there's still a lot to do. If we're lucky, we'll have 3-4 bikes done just in the nick of time. Got some good things done - Panhead is coming together nicely, and as long as the final pieces show in the mail this week, it'll be being broken down for paint / powder / chrome next week and then back together by month's end ready for shakedown. The knuck is coming along nicely too, although you won't be getting any pics of that one. Super, secret stuff you see. Let's just say that there's a little fiberglass work left to do, and then a bunch of brackets, then she too will be ready for breakdown. Given the timeline, probably not seeing the knuck on the road till middle of June, if not right before the show. Cutting it close for sure! Here's a peek at the weekend -

First up is the '56 Panhead - She's got an original numbers-matching '56 motor slung in a 70's era Paughco straight-leg frame and narrow-ass springer up front. Spool hub 21" graces the end of that up, out and raked neck. No messy bar clutter on those short Z's either, since its got a foot clutch and jockey shift. Newly rebuilt S&S Super E carb provides the go and a OE drum out back provides the stop. Beautiful flame-job on a Wassel tank, and matching job on the fender out back as well. The bike was originally named "KINK" back in the day and had a super paint job that unfortunately didn't stand the test of time. What did stand the test, is the imprint of a fine naked lady handcuffed to the sissybar that remains on the seat to this day. It's got a clear CA title and good numbers.

You want it? 11K takes it!

Next, we have the reincarnation of the Puta de Oro from EDR / Flyrite fame. She's been reskinned and sits how you see her here. It's a 2006 Flyrite by title and is powered by an S&S genny shovel that reports in at 93 cubes. Plain and simple, it freakin' rockets its ass down the road. Light, light and light are the words that describe this beast the best. Fired by a Morris mag with full auto action and sipping fuel from a custom sporty tank with insane paint from Chicago Chris. Spool hub up front on a nice, new 21" rim wrapped with a Bridgestone classic rubber to lead the way. DUAL DISC REAR to make sure you stop when you decide that's the prudent action. This is one of the only dual rear disc setups we've run across and it works exceptionally well. Custom Flyrite frame done with a single downtube leading to a mild wishbone style lower set of tubes slung under the power plant. Simple and sweet. Kutty tossed a heck of a shindig and we had a blast for sure. From where I was standing, it looked like everyone else agreed. Traffic through the booth was great and as always, it was great to meet new friends and catch up with old ones too. Even though it was hot as balls, everyone found a way to keep their happy face on and keep the good times rolling. Music was great, especially seeing Agent Orange again after all these years. As usual, I didn't get out much to browse the flora and fauna, but I heard the sights were good too, with a ton of bikes and cars for your viewing pleasure. Travis and Jimmy's bike even took home an award given to them by Freddy Hernandez himself. Way to go boys! Anywho, thanks for stopping by if you did and to heck with ya if you missed it!

Travis and Jimmy enjoyed a nice blowout before the event. Good times were had by all, and we were happy to lend a hand... and a wheel.

Gonna start needing more space soon. Can we get 2 fer 1 boothspace from now on?

Last weekend was a blast up in Sonora for the DTMC swap meet. Back and already gearing up for the HippyKiller Hoedown this weekend! Come on out to Winchester Friday night and get your party on with the DiCE crew too. Camp if you want, and then wake up bright and early Saturday for a full slate of rowdy fun-in-the-sun. Hey Gang! We've got a new lineup of lids coming in soon and thought we'd give you a sneak peek of the goods before final production. I met with Rene from Primos yesterday to go over the final details and we hope to have them off the line by mid-May. Made right here in the good ol' USofA, these bad boys forego the usual plastic or fiberglass shell for good ol' American Steel. We even got them to crank up the mill in Bethlehem, PA again to help us out!

Heavy? Yeah, they will strengthen your neck muscles for sure, but think of all the safety that REAL STEEL provides. That, and the cool sparks you'll get when you take a dive off your steed. Bitchin!

We wanted that old school look that so many of you love, so we went back. WAY BAAAAAACK to the 14th Century for these. Taking that into account, you can also use these at your next local Medieval Faire event or take it to Medieval Times restaurant for a 20% group discount off your next meal / entertainment. Now that's looking out for you!

Pricing has yet to be determined, but look for these puppies to run in the 800-1000 range to start, then custom paint can be tossed in on top of that. We do you up right for sure!

Two new parts in the door today and we think you'll be just as stoked as we are! First up is the big daddy to the warbird jr. Poppa Bird is 6 1/4 wide x 4 3/4 tall and 1 3/4 deep. Sports a standard 1157 socket for either dual filament bulbs or LED replacement style jobbies. Chrome plastic housing and plastic lid with two mounting studs out the back. Been looking for the perfect old Warbird? Well, gone are the days of thinking that it takes a grand to get you one. These babies do the job at a fraction of the price!

Next up is the new Finger light. Small light with a big message! Tons of LED brightness in a 1 /78 width x 2 3/4 height package. Grab one of these before they follow in the bird jr. footsteps and disappear!

We Survived!

Yep, back from Cinci and was somehow able to survive the snow, crappy airline customer service, middle-seat obeseness overflowing into my window seat sanctuary, bad bike business convention, and not near enough sleep! Great times were had through it all thanks to our Biltwell buds and the Lowbrow team for sure. Saturday would see me trucking through the show in all of about an hour and left wondering why the hell I went to the cold in the first place. Then I found Bill and the gang over at the bar revving up for the late show and it was on. Another life-saver thanks goes out to Jeff, Chris and the rest of the Street Chopper crew for a great time Friday!

Why have a sandwich, when you can have a MANwich?! Those Street Chopper guys really love each other...

Too much to list on this baby, but the main stand-outs are Chevy 350 / TH350 drivetrain, 89 TA front and rear with 4 wheel disc brakes, air supply compressor for rear shocks, nosed, decked, tons of nice frenching, 4" chop is one of the best you'll ever see, and tons of other small details that make her stand out everywhere you take her. Runs strong, needs very little to be a daily if that's your thing. She'll make the distance with no trouble at all. Got interest? The Weekend that Was...

Well, all-in-all, it was an OK weekend. Could've been headed toward greatness, but you know how it goes. Saturday was spent cleaning up the new '67 van we picked up Friday to sell. Got it pretty straight and loaded for the swap, which was good, but not until nearly 4:30pm, which was bad. Bad, because I was supposed to show support for the Born Free / Utility Board Shop ride and totally hosed out and missed it while waiting for tires on the new box. No prob, right? Dice party followed the ride, so I'll just head out and meet everyone there right? Right??? Nope. Got the bike going and shot down the highway right as the sun started to call it quits and got as far as University and the 215 when I lost the front tire... not all at once, but quick enough that it puckered the butt a little. Just a little. Pulled off and hit the nearest gas station as the last gasp escaped the tube. Aired her back up and watched as it hissed its way back down. Reach for the trusty phone to call reinforcements and... uh... yeah... phone... that'd be a good thing to take with you right?

Oh well, no phone and no front tire make for a bad gig in my opinion. Not to mention I was a little ticked from the tire place dicking me around so long and then my usually trusty garage door giving up the ghost as I was trying to get the bike out, so maybe it just wasn't in the cards. Like a keystone cops movie, my day ended. Down the street from Denny's, so I limped there and grabbed grub and borrowed a phone book. Dude next to me at the bar starts chatting about this and that and leads to bikes. Tell him that I usually love mine, but tonight is a bitch. He sits there a split second and says, "let me finish this and I'll give you a hand." He literally gulps his food down and then takes off saying he'll be right back. No shit, he shows up with a flatbed truck and tie-downs and gets me down the road without even asking for anything in return. It's not even his work truck, just something he "had lying around". Big thanks to Tom and I'll pay that one forward ASAP.

Turns out the stem was loose and bent, so easy fix on the tire it seems, and actually, being home and in bed before 9 made the swap easier anyway... now about that guy that "bought" the van...

Only colors we are still out of are Flat Black. Those are on the way, so keep holding your breath. Well... maybe not literally. I don't think our insurance policy covers the whole drop dead from lack of air thing.

Ok, enough of the sappy 'love' references. Just know that it was a weekend filled with great times! Good to see the crowd turnout at Jeremiah's for the show. That man has his shit dialed pretty well, and the event had a little bit for everyone. Bikes galore, good folks, good food, good skate ramp, good vendors, did I mention tamales, beverages, and arm wrestling!! The crowd was stoked and the place was packed from start to finish. Shawn and I took off a little early with Allen and Travis in order to get my Whataburger fix taken care of, then off to a bar where they let dogs crap on the floor. Good times and lots of helmetless riding to bring back my Texas days.

Yesterday Bill from Biltwell and I shot across the Inland Empire like we were being chased by hell itself. Tons done, and tons of fun! Slim, Jeremy, Steve, Skrotum (can't spell it!), Paul, Mike, the rest of the gang at Spitfire and last, but never least - Wompy. A long list of good guys and better times had while jaunting around the land taking care of biz and showing some love. These guys keep the fire burning all year round and are some of the best in the biz!
